Prompt:
-
Like the Moveable Bridge Essay, this essay also
comes from the research done in your Annotated Bibliography.
-
You must cite a minimum of 8 sources, 6 of which must
have been included in your Annotated Bibliography. This means that each one of the 8 sources
quoted in your essay 4 must be cited with an in-text citation and a corresponding works cited
page citation.
-
You may use additional sources
beyond the 8 if you wish.
-
Devise your own thesis and argument.
Remember to:
Demonstrate in your introductory section of essay 4 why your article is needed, or what it
adds to the scholarly conversation taking place in journals.
As we have discussed at length during class, this involves 3 steps:
1. Demonstrate awareness of a scholarly conversation.
2. Make clear your point of entry into the conversation.
3. Make clear what your argument adds to the conversation. In other
words, what does your paper focus on that has not been previously addressed in scholarship?
Of course, during class there will be much direct instruction
from me regarding your approach to this essay. I will also assist you during
peer revisions and am available for questions via E-mail and office hours. I am always willing to discuss various approaches to your assignments, or read a
draft of your work in progress.
