Research Proposal

This is a very simple assignment, and it is the only assignment in which students may use first person pronouns.

1. Students will turn in a short proposal, no more than a paragraph, explaining what topic they have chosen for their annotated bibliography.

2. If students wish to change topics then they must submit a new proposal.

3. The research topic must be approved before students can begin doing research, or it will negatively impact the course grade.

4. You will know that your proposal is approved if you have not received a rejection email within 48 hours of your turn-in.

5. Do not proceed with your research until your proposal is approved, as it may result in zeroes on future assignments.

6. Remember to read the lecture about the Research Proposal.

7. The topic you choose will be the same topic over which you will make a ten-minute oral class presentation later this semester. For more information, see the Individual Research Presentation assignment prompt. You will write about this topic, for the last three major projects of the semester, so choose something that will hold your interest.

8. Some of the topics that I will not approve are as follows:

� genetic research

� gun control

� abortion

� same-sex marriage

� anorexia

� bulimia

� euthanasia

� the death penalty

� postpartum depression

� xenotransplantatation

� blood-doping or steroids etc. in sports

� stem cell research

� obesity

� postpartum depression

� animal rights, or anything to do with experimentation on animals or cruelty to animals

� free Internet downloads

� copyright issues

� anything to do with religion/faith

� anything to do with wet/dry campuses

� anything to do with smoking or tobacco-free areas

� anything to do with raising/lowering the legal drinking age

� anything to do with raising/lowering the legal driving age

� anything to do with the legalization of marijuana or the usefulness of hemp

I also reserve the right to reject topics not listed above, based on my own judgment.
