ANNOTATIONS THAT LEAD WITH THE VERB
Teaches the responsible conduct of science in college and university science courses. Developed
as part of the Poynter Center's "Teaching Research Ethics" project. Focuses on teaching and
assessing moral reasoning. Includes: introduction to the approach, instructions on using the cases,
an essay for students on "Developing a Well-Reasoned Response to a Moral Problem in Scientific
Research," six one-to-two page case studies in research ethics. Covers cases of data ownership,
plagiarism, whistleblowing, data selection and exclusion, collegial relations, and animal use.
